Day 11 - Weather Day at 14k' camp

Marlin called today from the cell phone to check on the weather from mountain forecast's and NOAA weather's reports. It was pretty windy at 14 camp today and currently no one is at 17 camp. The people who had been at 17k camp overnight last night said it was so crazy windy that their tent was torn to shreds before the night even fell. They just had to hunker down for the night as help could not arrive due to the weather and came down to 14 today.

Friday and Saturday look to be quite windy as well and Sunday there will be about 2 feet of snow falling, so they are remaining at 14 camp for the next few days and will continue to check on the weather. They're hoping for a 2-3 day break in weather that will allow them to set up camp at 17k, summit, and come back to 14k. So for now, it's hanging out at camp, playing cards, short hikes, chatting with each other and other parties, and trying not to get too bored waiting on the weather.

Carl's message from almost 9PM today: Last night and morning they could hear the roar of the wind on the South Buttress. Stayed. In the tent. Afternoon clearing allowed a training hike to the bottom of the fixed lines. Big storm in the forecast Saturday through Monday so may remain pinned to 14 camp now until Monday. We are ready to move up when the weather is right. If possible we are planning a training hike to 17 camp and return tomorrow.
